Multiple bodies found in vehicle by officers responding to shooting, South Carolina officials say

The bodies of two men were found late Saturday night in South Carolina. According to the Richland County Sheriff’s Office, the deaths of the two men are under investigation. It is a double homicide.

At about 10:30 p.m., officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 300 block of Koon Store Road, the sheriff’s department said in a news release Sunday afternoon. That’s in a more rural part of Columbia between U.S. 21/Wilson Boulevard and SC 215/Monticello Road.

According to the press release, officers found the bodies in a vehicle.

The Richland County coroner’s office has not released the identities of the men the sheriff described as murder victims.

There were no other injuries.

There was no word on a shooter or shooters, or if anyone else was involved in the shooting. Information on a motive for the shooting was not available.

The sheriff has not reported any arrests, but says the investigation into the deaths continues.
