Sofia Vergara is a bombshell in red at the 2024 Emmys

Sofía Vergara looks picture perfect at the 76th Primetime Emmy Awards.

The Modern family alum walked the red carpet tonight at the Peacock Theater in downtown Los Angeles in a striking red gown. It was a strapless, floor-length gown with a plunging neckline and ruched, ribbed details arranged in symmetrical patterns throughout.

Vergara accessorized the bold blush piece with diamond chandelier earrings and a scattering of hoops. Her caramel brown hair was styled in silky waves and she wore a shimmering bronze eyeshadow.

Tonight is a big night for Vergara, who earned her first Emmy nomination as a lead actress for her role as Colombian drug lord Griselda Blanco in the Netflix series GriseldaShe is the first Colombian-born actress and the second Latin American actress ever to be nominated in the category of Outstanding Lead Actress in a Short Form or Anthology Series or Movie.

Griselda is based on real-life drug lord Griselda Blanco, who founded one of the world’s most brutal drug cartels in Miami in the 1970s.

“There were a lot of similarities to her, I felt like I connected to her,” Vergara said of her character in a recent interview with CBS. “I lived in Colombia in the ’70s, ’80s, ’90s, when the drug business was crazy. My brother died during that time. He was murdered because he was part of that business. So I actually had a lot of things, you know, I don’t want to say I had things in common, but I have to.”
