Grim Moses x ArtLords – LORDINI – Raw Side Hip Hop

Grim Moses is usually a must listen to type of artist in the underground for me. Why? His projects are always solid and unique with a great selection of beats to back it up. My favorite is ‘LCA (Citric Acid)‘ with my favorite song is ‘JUXX FOR DRUGS’. He has a knack for using a wide variety of beatmakers that make each album a unique listening experience and they are never oversaturated with features; he relies on himself to carry the album and ‘Ruler‘ is no different. Let’s take a look at this gem…

‘Ruler‘ has a cinematic atmosphere that takes you into the mind of a crook that resembles the old Las Vegas (when the mafia ruled the city). The intro, ‘Divine Comedy‘put this on, just like the interlude,’Lord Vanish’. The old creepy sounds fit the persona that Grim Moses is. His projects are always great visions of his persona. Grim wrote a definition of this album on his Bandcamp. On ‘Stunt-DBLS’Grim points out that he did Boom Bap before it was all the rage. He did it before Griselda brought the art back in the form of coke raps. He claims that there are many copies of his move, but they are inferior versions, hence the stunt double metaphor.

His features in New Villain and Young Stadix are spot on and are perfectly chosen for songs that purposefully excel in, ‘Phantom‘ And ‘Malin‘.

All in all, Grim excels in the conceptual idea of focus and vision, which explains his convictions in the psychological and social aspects of the music industry. Lyrics, schematics, and production are top notch. Grim always saturates the underground scene to a level that never waters down his artistry like some underground artists.
