Predatory perpetrator charged after child sex operation – Brainerd Dispatch

ROCHESTER — A predatory criminal has been charged in Olmsted County following a child sex operation involving the Rochester and Brainerd police departments.

Marvin Douglas Fear, 44, of Chatfield, faces felony charges of distributing, engaging and soliciting a child in sexual conduct. He also faces a charge of failing to update his information as a predatory offender.

In 2014, he was convicted of second-degree criminal sexual conduct, which, according to court documents, requires him to register as a predatory felon for life.

According to the criminal complaint filed on Thursday, Sept. 12, an undercover agent activated a social media profile on Sept. 3 with two photos of a girl. A person with the username “Juneyour,” later identified as Fear, began messaging the undercover agent’s account.

According to Fears’ account, he was 44 and lived in Brainerd. The complaint lists Fears’ address as Chatfield. His profile included a photo of a white man sitting on the sidewalk in front of a trailer park, the complaint said.

Fear messaged the account and called the girl beautiful, according to the complaint. When he messaged the account asking if the girl was really 18, the officer messaged her saying they were younger. Fear then asked if he could “smash her,” the complaint alleges. Fear explained what he meant and then sent two explicit photos of himself.

The officer noticed a small tattoo near Fear’s right thumb. The complaint alleges that Fear then asked if they could have a sexual encounter after the officer texted her that she was 15.

A Brainerd officer confirmed the man in the profile was Fear. An investigator drove by his home and saw him sitting on the sidewalk, which matched the sidewalk in his profile photo, the complaint said.

After obtaining and executing a search warrant, Rochester and Brainerd police searched his home. A detective noticed a tattoo on his right thumb that matched the tattoo in photos sent to the officer.

According to the complaint, when officers showed Fear the profile, he acknowledged the photo was his but said he did not create the account. Officers then showed him the photos, which he admitted were his. Fear told police he thought he was being set up by someone.

The first scare is expected to occur on September 19 at 8:30 am.
