‘Operation Sweet Silence’ Drug Bust in Georgia: 55,000 Pounds of Marijuana Seized

In a law enforcement operation dubbed Operation Sweet Silence, Muscogee County Sheriff Greg Countryman announced the seizure of a massive amount of drugs, along with several weapons, cash seizures, and the arrests of 101 people involved in the sprawling criminal operation centered around two Columbus, GA gangs, the Crips and the Zohannons, and involving several government agencies, both local and federal.

The two-year investigation ended with a lot of big money. In total, they seized 155 guns, 496 pounds of meth, 7.1 kg of fentanyl, and 57.21 kg of cocaine. They also found marijuana. This is a truly staggering number: they seized 55,248 pounds of marijuana. The street value of that much weed is over $250 million. The street value of all the drugs that they seized was almost $300 million.

The FBI was involved: 250 agents and analysts. Seven different SWAT teams were deployed during the operation. There is no official count of how many DEA agents were involved, but they were there too.

Complex reported that rapper Peewee Longway was among the 101 people arrested, though his name was not included in the press release about federal charges. (Another, smaller rapper from Georgia, who goes by YSN Trapp, was listed among the 19 people facing federal charges.)
