The former mafia boss who exposes corrupt politicians

Corrupt politicians, the processing of toxic waste and bribes of thousands of euros: this is the story of the waste trade of the ‘Eco Mafia’ in Italy.

Journalist Sacha Biazzo of Backstair, the investigative department of Fanpage.it, went undercover with former mafia member Nunzio Perella to expose the intricate web of crime within Italy’s waste management services.

Founded in 2009, Fanpage.it is one of the most important players in the online information sector in Italy. It also has the largest community in the Italian newspaper landscape: more than 35 million followers on Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, Twitter and TikTok.

Backstair is the department of Fanpage.it that focuses entirely on investigations, such as Bloody Money, which exposed a complex complex of crime and corruption behind Italy’s waste management system.
