WATCH | Construction mafia | State: Accused caused disruption of bridge project

JOHANNESBURG – The state says five suspects in the so-called construction mafia case were leaders in the disruption of a bridge construction project in KwaXimba, KwaZulu-Natal.

The suspects are applying for bail at Camperdown Magistrates Court.
They are accused of extortion.

The state opposes bail because if released, the suspect could disrupt the construction project and witnesses.

The defense questions why only five people from the group of more than thirty people were identified and arrested.

Community members supporting the accused say their case is political in nature.

Siphamandla Goge from eNCA explains it in the video above.
