1,000 bandit informers arrested in Katstina — Governor Radda

Katsina State Governor Umaru Radda has revealed that over 1,000 informants working for criminal gangs have been arrested by the Community Watch Corps (CWC).

According to the governor, the achievement is part of the state government’s efforts to improve security and accelerate sustainable agricultural transformation in the state.

The governor made this disclosure during a courtesy visit by the Chief of Air Staff, Hassan Abubakar, and stressed the importance of collaboration between the state government and the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) in combating banditry.

He assured the armed forces that the state was ready to support their efforts in every possible way.

Governor Radda stressed the progress made in identifying and arresting informants who connive with bandits, citing the crucial role played by the Katsina State Security Watch Corps in this regard.

He also indicated that the government has engaged relevant stakeholders in the local governments to identify and eliminate bandits.

Furthermore, the governor acknowledged that unemployment, illiteracy and lack of livelihood are major contributors to the security challenges in the state. He stressed the need to address the root causes, stating that the state has redoubled its efforts to achieve this goal.

He went on to say that traditional rulers, religious leaders and community heads are being used to identify and eliminate suspicious elements within communities.
