Police Chief: We are making steady progress

Chester Sambrano

While police have stepped up their operations over the weekend with several intelligence-led exercises against crime on roads and in high-crime areas, Police Chief Erla Harewood-Christopher has stated that the TTPS is making steady progress in the fight against criminals.

The TTPS said in a press release that the operations, which were carried out in all 10 police departments, resulted in 15 arrests, the seizure of eight illegal firearms, a quantity of ammunition and illegal narcotics.

In response, Commissioner Harewood-Christopher said: “We are pleased that we are making progress. Every illegal firearm seized is one less firearm in the hands of criminals and brings us one step closer to disarming criminal gangs.”

She said: “This is a fight we want to win. In the coming days and weeks we will continue to intensify our activities, using all our resources to contain and arrest those who intend to commit crimes.”
