Okatie man accused of sexual exploitation of minor | Beaufort County

OKATIE — An Okatie man has been jailed after being charged with multiple counts related to the sexual exploitation of a minor.

The arrest of 24-year-old Alexis Jimenez was announced by the South Carolina Attorney General’s Office.

The investigation was sparked by a CyberTipline report from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. That tip led investigators to Jimenez, who allegedly distributed files containing child sexual abuse material.

Jimenez was arrested on September 17. He is charged with two counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, second degree. Each of the offenses is punishable by up to 10 years in prison.

A background check by the State Law Enforcement Division shows Jimenez has no prior charges.

Jimenez is being held in the Beaufort County Detention Center.
