Southern District of Florida | Fort Pierce man pleads guilty to producing video of sexual exploitation of a minor

MIAMI – On September 13, Blaine Korbin Hulten, 23, pleaded guilty to producing visual depictions of sexual exploitation of minors.

According to court records, Hulten, of Fort Pierce, Florida, had sex with a 13-year-old minor and a 16-year-old minor, and recorded the sexual act with the 16-year-old victim. Social media records contain Hulten’s conversations with both minor victims, as well as evidence that Hulten knew they were under 18. Hulten distributed the recording of his 16-year-old victim via a social media platform.

Hulten is scheduled to be sentenced on Dec. 18 by U.S. District Judge Robin L. Rosenberg. Hulten faces a maximum of 30 years in federal prison and up to a lifetime of supervised release. A federal district judge will determine a possible sentence after considering the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.

Markenzy Lapointe, U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Florida; Anthony Salisbury, Special Agent in Charge of Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), Miami Field Office; and William D. Snyder, Martin County Sheriff, made the announcement.

HSI Fort Pierce and the Martin County Sheriff’s Office investigated the case. Assistant U.S. Attorney Christopher Hudock is prosecuting the case.

This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched by the Department of Justice in May 2006 to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse. Led by the U.S. Attorney’s Offices and the Criminal Division’s Child Abuse and Obscenity Section (CEOS), Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state, and local resources to better locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who exploit children online, and to identify and rescue victims.
