The official Lebanese news agency reports that solar energy systems for homes have exploded in several parts of Beirut.

This increase in explosions follows a series of deadly explosions using Hezbollah pagers and walkie-talkies.

Shortly after the explosions, Israel’s defense minister declared a “new phase” of the war, with the army turning its attention to the northern front with Lebanon.

Hashem Safieddine, head of Hezbollah’s Executive Council, has vowed to avenge the attacks and said they will be met with bloody retaliation, the Times of Israel reported.

Iran has also condemned the new wave of violence in Lebanon.

“The terrorism of the Zionist regime causes disgust and revulsion. Iran strongly condemns yesterday’s criminal explosion of communications equipment and today’s criminal explosion of walkie-talkies, which resulted in the death and injury of hundreds of Lebanese civilians,” Reuters quoted government spokesman Fatemeh Mohajerani as saying.

Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant praised Israeli security forces on Wednesday but made no mention of the explosions in Lebanon.

He said: “The center of gravity is shifting to the north through the diversion of resources and troops. We are at the beginning of a new phase in the war.”
