The prodigious Greta Stanley bursts through the airwaves like a ray of sunshine with new track ‘Greatest Hit’ ahead of third album and release date. – Backseat Mafia

A firm favourite here at Backseat Mafia’s antipodean outpost (we’ve been following her career ascent closely for a while now), Greta Stanley is an artist who has blossomed with a seemingly endless reach as her songs become increasingly addictive and compelling. Her new track, ‘Greatest Hit’, is indeed aptly named and case in point: she continues to improve exponentially and defy the laws of science. And in even better news, the track comes from Stanley’s recently announced third album ‘If I Get In, Where Would I Go?’ due out September 27th, 2024 via the inimitable Double Drummer label.

‘Greatest Hit’ is a ray of sunshine with Stanley’s vocals still as delightfully evocative as ever: light as a silken veil caught in the wind with an infectious pop sensibility that jumps and dances across the instrumentation. The song deals with therapeutic topics, as Stanley says:

This song has a double meaning, it’s about knowing that you have a lot to offer someone, and that you’ve finally found someone who doesn’t take that for granted, but it’s also a song for myself, about self-love, and really working on the relationship that you have with yourself. How when you overcome these challenging things that are holding you down, you can really stand up for yourself; you could write that song, you could be that person that lifts you up instead of dragging you down. It’s about the half of you that gets hidden when you’re too deep in the dark shit in your brain, and when you really work hard (therapy, breaking habits, whatever!) you get to see this version of yourself that you know you could be, and you know is someone you don’t want to hide all the time.

One thing is for sure: it’s a healing chunk of pure sunshine:
