GISBH: Five suspected members arrested on their way to Thailand, two campers seized

KUALA LUMPUR – Five men, suspected of having links to Global Ikhwan Services and Business Holdings (GISBH), were arrested at the Bukit Kayu Hitam border towards Thailand at around 6pm yesterday.

Police also seized two campers bearing the company’s logo and registration numbers X31337 and X37313, Bernama reported.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain attributed the arrests and seizures to the investigation carried out by the North Zone Border Intelligence Unit.

It is believed that one of the arrested persons is the son of a company director.

Observations revealed that the vehicles had driven to the Bukit Kayu Hitam Immigration, Customs, Quarantine and Security Complex (ICQS) en route to Thailand.

“Checks conducted with the assistance of the Kedah Criminal Investigation Department resulted in the impoundment of the vehicles and the arrest of a Myvi car carrying five men aged between 28 and 41.

“The arrested and seized persons are being transferred to Kubang Pasu District Police Station for further processing,” he told Bernama last night.

Yesterday, a member of the group pleaded not guilty before a police judge to charges that he had threatened a woman because she had filed a report with the police.

Mohamad Riza Makar, 39, who has three wives and 10 children, allegedly threatened the woman, saying: “We will wait, we know where your house, your husband and your family are.”

Razarudin is calling on other GISBH members who filed reports but then withdrew them to come forward and help police investigate the company, which has links to care homes where child sexual and physical abuse has allegedly taken place.

On September 11, police raided 20 homes in Selangor and Negri Sembilan and rescued 402 children who showed signs of various forms of abuse.

A health survey of 392 children rescued from GISBH homes during Op Global found they faced physical and emotional abuse and labour exploitation, the IGP said earlier. – September 19, 2024
