Summary

HII-Mission Technologies is seeking a Senior Systems/Solutions Architect to support the Chief Information Officer (CIO) of the Department of Defense (DoD). Join our growing team today!

The successful candidate will have technical knowledge, skills and experience across a broad range of Cloud, Data and IT. This role requires ongoing awareness of evolving trends and the latest developments in technology implementation to assist in developing innovative approaches and cutting-edge solutions. Knowledge of DoD and industry best practices are necessary to help define strategies that may include enterprise architecture models, business capability models, process definitions and hybrid operating models. This role requires the ability to identify key issues or opportunities, maximize value by performing rigorous system-level analysis (concept, design, development, test, operation and maintenance), and support the implementation and integration of services across Cloud/Enterprise IT.

What you are going to do

  • Leverage tactical technology skills and experience as a foundation for defining strategic enterprise-level solutions to dynamic problem set(s).
  • Identify and implement technology solutions from idea identification through technical business solution definition and implementation, while also assessing and mitigating second and third order impacts.
  • This role focuses on the following aspects of DoD CIO policy and governance mission:
  • Digital Strategy: Collaborate to Address Problems, Drive Decisions and Actions, Inform Investments, and Create Solutions for Cloud/Enterprise IT
    • Cloud/Enterprise IT Value Strategy: Help shape the direction of Cloud/Enterprise IT solutions to align stakeholders’ and businesses’ overall vision and objectives and facilitate measurable improvements
    • Cloud Technology Innovation and Ecosystems: Exploring new and emerging technologies and services to create a vision of how technology will shape the future and invent the next wave of advanced business solutions for the customer.
    • Business Model: Help shape Cloud/Enterprise IT functionality and operations to achieve stakeholders’ Cloud/Enterprise IT objectives
    • Solution Strategy: Helping organizations access cloud/enterprise IT-based services including infrastructure, applications, platforms and business processes via the Internet to shape the organization’s cloud journeys
  • Ability to work with a team in support of senior customer leadership (GS-15 and SES)
  • Strong belief in solutions based on service and end-user requirements
  • Ability to work with a wide range of individuals with varying levels of technical skills
  • Effective ability to communicate complex strategies and technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and leaders.
  • Additional duties as assigned or required

What we are looking for

  • 9 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor’s degree in a related field; 7 years of relevant experience with a Master’s degree in a related field; 4 years of relevant experience with a PhD or Doctorate in Law in a related field; or a high school diploma or equivalent and 13 years of relevant experience
  • Experience in several of the following technical areas:
    • Cloud Migration and Application Modernization
    • Enterprise Cloud provider: Azure, AWS, GCP, Oracle
    • Cloud-based solutions for collaboration platforms
    • Agile (strategy, transformation or operating model)
    • Test Drive Development (TDD) (Cypress, Selenium, TestRail, etc.)
    • Software Development Life Cycle (Development, Test, Phase, Production)
    • Experience with the implementation of Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD)
    • Experience with DevSecOps design/implementation/management
    • Broad, diverse experience and knowledge of key technologies (from old to emerging)
  • Possibility to work on location at the customer’s location 3 days a week
  • Clearance: Must possess and maintain a Secret clearance, with the ability to obtain TS/SCI.

Bonus points for…

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT, computer systems or equivalent technologies/experience
  • Professional certifications (Sec+, CISSP, PMP, AWS, Azure, etc.)
  • 3+ years of contributing to Cloud/Enterprise IT/Application development or implementation
  • 5+ years of experience supporting at least 2 of the following areas:
    • Planning, implementation or development of cloud/enterprise IT strategy
    • Implementation or development of a Cloud/Enterprise IT security strategy
    • Application/Technology Innovation and Ecosystems Implementation or Development
    • Implementation or development of the cloud/enterprise IT operating model
    • Implementation or development of cloud infrastructure
    • Implementation or development of AI/ML/data strategy
  • 3+ years of experience supporting the functional analysis of technology solutions
  • 2+ years of experience contributing to teams, including planning, analytical work, and team workshops
  • TS/SCI highly desired

Physical requirements

May require working in an office, industrial, marine or laboratory environment. Ability to climb ladders and handle confined spaces and extreme temperature changes.
