Excise Service Simplifies Registration Process for New Cars

ISLAMABAD: In a bid to tackle the agent mafia and provide better services to citizens, the Excise and Taxation Department has introduced new Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in Islamabad, ARY News reported on Thursday.

The process of buying and registering a new car has become easier. According to the new guidelines, a vehicle owner who cannot come to the excise department in person for registration or transfer of the vehicle can authorize another person through an authorization letter or biometric verification. This ensures a secure process.

Biometric verification is also mandatory for those collecting the registration card on behalf of the owner.

To further streamline the process, the Excise Department has introduced a ‘door-to-door policy’, offering vehicle registration and transfer services to your home or office.

In addition, there are now mobile vans at key locations such as markets and parks that provide on-site registration services.

Citizens can also register online. They will have to apply for a government fee challan ticket. This will list all the fees.

For further assistance, the Excise Department has opened a helpline at 051-111-383-383. This can be reached on weekdays from 08:00 to 16:00.

Director of Excise Bilal Azam has urged citizens to make optimum use of these new facilities for a hassle-free registration process.
