Beaufort County man charged in child abuse investigation

OKATIE, SC (WSAV) – A Beaufort County man accused of child sex crimes has been arrested, according to South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson.

Alexis Jimenez, 24, of Okatie, was arrested Tuesday on two counts of second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor. Wilson said Jimenez distributed files containing child abuse material.

According to the attorney general, a report from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children’s CyberTipline led them to the suspect.

The Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office and the Attorney General’s Office assisted in the investigation.

Jimenez faces up to 10 years in prison for each offense.

The case will be prosecuted by Wilson’s office.
