Kids Online Safety Act clears hurdle; Blumenthal says there’s still work to be done

The Kids Online Safety Act cleared a new hurdle this week with the approval of a congressional committee for the House version of the bill. But U.S. Sen. Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn., said more work needs to be done to iron out differences in the legislation and address lawmakers’ concerns in the effort to pass the bill by the end of the year.

The House of Representatives Committee on Energy and Commerce on Wednesday passed two bills aimed at protecting minors online: the Kids Online Safety Act, also known as KOSA, and the Children’s and Teens Online Privacy Protection Act, also known as COPPA 2.0.
