Libyan authorities arrest criminal gang leaders with ties to Nigeria

Libya’s Public Prosecutor’s Office has announced the arrest of 37 Nigerians involved in organized criminal gangs who entered the country illegally and engaged in criminal activities.

According to the agency, intelligence reports indicated that illegal migrants were gathering to coordinate criminal activities, including activities carried out by international criminal organizations.

The office further revealed that these organizations included the Supreme Vikings, MS, Aye, the Black Axe and the New Black Movement of Africa. Investigations revealed that 35 illegal migrants were directly linked to these groups, who operate from Nigeria as their headquarters for criminal operations.

The investigation also revealed that these individuals were involved in practicing witchcraft and using it in human trafficking. They were involved in forcing migrants to do domestic work, running prostitution rings, trafficking women internationally, organizing illegal migration to countries in the North Mediterranean, kidnapping, drug trafficking and robbery.

During the same operation, intelligence officers successfully arrested 37 suspects, including the leader of the Viking group in Libya.

The Attorney General’s Office noted that investigators confirmed the infiltration of these criminal organizations into Libyan territory, setting up networks involving hundreds of illegal migrants. These criminal activities are linked to mafia organizations operating in the Mediterranean. All suspects have been arrested and referred to the judiciary for trial.
