Hells Angels gang members arrested after attack and robbery in Hamilton: police

Five members of a motorcycle gang, four of whom belong to the Hells Angels and one to the Red Devils, have been arrested after an attack and robbery in Hamilton, police said.

According to Ontario Provincial Police, an attack occurred at an establishment in Hamilton on July 4 and the victim was robbed during the attack.

The OPP’s Motorcyclist Enforcement Unit and Hamilton Police launched an investigation into the incident.

On August 21, officers searched the suspects’ homes, as well as the Hells Angels and Red Devils clubhouses in Hamilton, police said.

“As a result of the search warrants, police seized four shotguns, three rifles, a shotgun barrel, ammunition, bulletproof vests and a Possession and Acquisition Permit (PAL),” OPP said.

Joel Rollin, 41, of Grimsby, Trevor Pittman, 34, of Ancaster, and Daniel Fish, 36, of Brantford, have each been charged with assault causing bodily harm and theft, police said.

William Ashford-Smith, 36, a resident of Hamilton, was charged with assault occasioning bodily harm, theft, breach of a probation order and unauthorised possession of a prohibited device.

Jason Hall, 51, of York, was charged with assault occasioning bodily harm, theft and violating firearms storage regulations.

A total of 13 charges were filed.

“Rule of law motorcycle gangs continue to be involved in violent incidents in our communities,” said OPP Det. Insp. Scott Wade of the biker enforcement unit.

“The assets seized and the charges filed in this investigation illustrate the importance of remaining diligent in our efforts to dismantle these criminal organizations.”

All suspects have been released on bail and will appear in court in Hamilton on Monday.
