IPOB vows to do business with producers and distributors of ‘Mkpurummiri’ – The Whistler Newspaper

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has vowed to do business with the producers and distributors of Crystal Meth, locally known as Mkpurummiri, across Imo State.

The group claimed that they have discovered about 10 factories producing the hard drug in Umuaka Orlu, Orlu Local Government Area of the state.

According to a statement by the group’s spokesperson, Emma Powerful, on Friday, he alleged that the factories were established by six individuals from the Umuaka community who had returned from South Africa to run their drug trade in the state and beyond.

Powerful attributed the violent crimes taking place in the Orlu axis to drug cartels hiding behind the Biafra separatist movement, which were spreading terror among unsuspecting citizens.

He said: “The attention of the State Directorate of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has been drawn to the dangerous and harmful illegal production of hard drugs taking place in Umuaka, Orlu Local Government Area of Imo State under the protection and cover of the Zoological Government and their security agencies.

“The IPOB Intelligence Unit has uncovered about 10 factories producing dangerous drugs called Crystal Meth, locally known as Mkpurummiri, located in Umuaka town, Orlu County of Imo State.

“These drug factories were established by six people from Umuaka community who returned from South Africa. These drug dealers in South Africa have decided to bring their drug business back to Alaigbo just to destroy the Igbo youths.

“These notorious drug dealers, who also own a number of hotels and nightclubs in Owerri, Imo State, operate from these hotels to distribute their illegal drugs to other states such as Lagos, Kano, River State (Igweoch/Port Harcourt), their federal capital Abuja and other places in Nigeria.

“The violent crimes taking place in Orlu County of Imo State have nothing to do with the struggle for an independent Biafran nation. Some of these drug dealing criminals claim to be fighting for the freedom of Biafra, when in reality they are just violent drug traffickers.

“Unfortunately, these drug dealers operate under the cloak of the Nigerian and Imo State Government and their murderous security forces. The Orlu axis in Imo State has the highest concentration of military and police deployment in Imo State.

“These military and police officers were deployed to Orlu province to provide cover and protect the illegal production and distribution of drugs.

“The government at the federal and state levels and the Nigerian security forces are complicit in the drug trade in Imo State.

“They are either co-owners of these crystal meth (Mkpurumiri) factories or they are beneficiaries of the proceeds from drug sales and distribution.

“There is no way an over-militarised zone like Orlu, Imo State, will have about 10 factories producing and distributing crystal meth (Mkpurummiri) without the knowledge and protection of the Nigerian and Imo State Governments and their notorious security agencies.”

He further stated that the group is giving these drug cartels an equal mandate to cease their activities. They will not only reveal their identities to the public but also ensure that their illegal drug trade is stopped.

“With this press release, IPOB is sending a message to those involved in the production and distribution of Mkpurummiri in Orlu and their ilk elsewhere in Alaigbo to immediately cease their activities. We have the identities of those involved and their accomplices.

“If you fail to heed this warning, IPOB will not only reveal your identity but will also take all measures to ensure that your illegal drug trade is stopped.

“IPOB called for the return of businesses and investments to Biafra, and not to criminality and destructive and illegal criminal activities such as the production of Mkpurummiri.”
