PAS urges fairness in GISB case as ministry vows to ban extremists from educational institutions

HIGHER Education Minister Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir has pledged full cooperation with the police investigation into GISB Holdings Sdn Bhd (GISBH), which has been linked to the banned Islamist group Al Arqam.

Zambry stressed the need to remove any extremist influence and promised to ban propagandists, whether students or teachers, from higher education institutions.

A special police unit is conducting a thorough investigation, especially after a raid on September 11th rescued 402 children from homes linked to GISBH, suspected of labor and sexual exploitation.

So far, 200 people have been arrested in connection with this case.

Meanwhile, Parti Islam de-Malaysia (PAS) secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan stressed the need for a careful and fair investigation into Global Ikhwan Services and Business Holdings (GISBH) to avoid injustice or excessive actions.

He supported thorough investigations into allegations of false convictions and child exploitation linked to GISBH, but urged authorities to ensure that innocent members and the group’s legitimate activities are not unfairly influenced.

He stressed the importance of preserving the group’s positive contributions, including its business network, and warned against impulsive actions influenced by biases or political agendas. – Sept. 22, 2024
