Holly Ridge man charged with 20 counts of child sex crimes

A Holly Ridge man is facing child sex crime charges following a multi-agency investigation, Holly Ridge police said.

The 28-year-old resident, who has not been identified, was charged with 20 counts of second-degree sexual exploitation of minors.

Authorities said the arrest came after a cyber tip was received from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and the NC State Bureau of Investigation Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force indicating the resident was in possession of child sexual abuse material.

According to the department, he has been released on $100,000 bail and is scheduled to appear in court on Monday, September 23.

Holly Ridge Police are still investigating this case and expect more charges to be filed.

The identity of the person has not been released by authorities.
