South African police report arrest of Namibian woman at airport with stomach full of drugs – National

South African police said a Namibian woman was caught with more than 60 “bullets” of suspected cocaine at Johannesburg’s OR Tambo International Airport on Sunday.

The South African Police Service (SAPS) said in a statement on Sunday evening that a 30-year-old woman from Namibia was arrested at OR Tambo International Airport, where she arrived on a flight from Brazil.

According to the SAPS, the South African Revenue Service and customs and immigration officials, they were responding to intelligence reports of a drug courier arriving in Brazil from São Paulo on Sunday morning.

X-ray examination revealed foreign objects in the woman’s intestines.

“She has fired over 60 ‘bullets’ of suspected cocaine to date. She is currently under police surveillance and custody,” police said in their statement.

Fannie Masemola, National Commissioner of the SAPS, noted that South Africa is not a playground for criminals and transnational organised crime.

“We limit the space for criminals and leave nothing to chance,” the statement said.
