‘Jailed’ Raja, wanted in TN BSP chief Armstrong’s murder case, killed in Chennai police encounter

A gangster wanted in connection with the murder of Tamil Nadu BSP president K Armstrong was shot dead in a police meeting in Chennai early on Monday morning. The notorious criminal, known as “To seize” Rajawas arrested in Andhra Pradesh before the meeting took place in Neelankarai, Tamil Nadu.

According to the Greater Chennai Police, Raja attacked officers upon their arrival, prompting them to return fire, ultimately resulting in his dead. Raja was a prime suspect in the murder of K Armstrong, who was killed on July 5 and there were several criminal cases against him, including five other murder charges and several attempted murders.

This meeting marks the third such incidents involving suspects linked to Armstrong’s murder in recent weeks. On July 14police shot dead K Thiruvengadama prime suspect, during an attempt to identify weapons linked to Armstrong’s murder. Similarly, on September 18another gangster, Kakathope Balajiwas killed after he attacked policemen during an operation in Vyasarpadi, where he was hiding.

It may be recalled that after the assassination of K. Armstrong on July 5 in broad daylight, 32 peopleincluding political leaders, were arrestedThere are reports of three gangs being involved in the murder and a lot of money was involved in the killing of Armstrong, a prominent Dalit leader and also a practising advocate at the Madras High Court.

As the situation develops, the focus remains on the balance between law enforcement tactics and the preservation of civil rights in Tamil Nadu.
