Ex-gang member warns of ‘bloodshed’ as Tren de Aragua moves to Chicago, sparking conflict with local gangs

The deadly Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua (TdA) may have faced its biggest challenge yet as a former gang member warned that South Side Chicago “could go up in flames” as tensions between them and local gangs increase.

In an interview with the New York Post, Tyrone Muhammad said the black community was angry that the government was giving money to what they called “non-citizens,” who had taken over their shelters and apartment buildings, depleting an already struggling community.

Muhammad served 20 years in prison for murder and turned his life around after his release. To combat crime and protect his community, he runs the Ex-Cons for Community and Social Change program, which patrols the streets and teaches violence prevention classes.

“It is impossible to allow gang members and criminals to enter our country through the borders and broken walls and infiltrate our community that is already impoverished and broken,” he said.

Muhammad warned that no one will be able to stop the local gangs from taking revenge as TdA continues to spread across the city and commit more crimes.

“When the black gangs here get fed up with the illegality and criminal activities of these immigrants or non-citizens, the city of Chicago will go up in flames and there will be nothing the National Guard or the government can do about it when the bloodshed takes place in the streets: it will be blacks against immigrants.”

According to the Post, the Windy City has spent nearly half a billion dollars over the past two years on more than 42,000 illegal immigrants who have entered the city since 2022.

Most of these illegal immigrants have been given money, food, housing and cars by the government. Meanwhile, the black community is being pushed aside and thrown out by their landlords because they are getting more government money for illegal immigrants.

Some of the illegal immigrants living in these areas are members of the TdA. City sources have said they are heavily armed and are settling in the South Side.

These areas are already controlled by several gangs, including Black P Stone, Latin Kings and Satan’s Disciples.

Several gang members told The Post they were frustrated and angry that city officials favored illegal immigrants over residents.

“There’s a lot going on with (the migrant gangs) that no one even hears about,” said Zacc Massie, a street leader who was first jailed in 2015 and recently released.

“They move in our territory and rob people, but they don’t get arrested like we do. I even spoke to one of them through the translator app. He told me everything he did; how they helped him get a car, an apartment, an (EBT) card, all that stuff. They gave them thousands, we get maybe $400 a month. And they don’t even have a social security number!”

David, a young member of the Gangster Disciples, condemned the government for allowing gangs like TdA into the country.

“The real problem is that America has let gangs into our country,” he said. “Gangs that they would consider ex-terrorist groups. They are letting terrorist groups into our country!”
