“Not JMM but ‘Jurm, Murder, Mafia’ government led by Hemant Soren”: Shivraj Chouhan

Union Minister and Jharkhand Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) election in-charge Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Monday criticised the Hemant Soren-led Jharkhand government, terming it a “Jurm, Murder and Mafia” government instead of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM).
Shivraj Chouhan today said at a public meeting in Baharagora: “Just as clouds have come as a crisis, the Hemant Soren government is a bigger crisis than these clouds… This is not JMM, but the ‘Jurm, Murder and Mafia’ government led by Hemant Soren.”
Chouhan also expressed his confidence that the darkness prevailing in Jharkhand will soon disappear and change will come.
“The clouds are raining, the lightning is flashing and it is raining heavily, yet you are determined to bring about change… When I see this, I can say today that the darkness will disappear, the sun will rise, the lotus will bloom and change will come,” he added.
Later, while talking to the media, Chouhan said that the women of Jharkhand are asking for help to protect their land, daughters and jobs. The BJP promises to ensure their safety and create jobs, while stopping infiltration.
“The mothers, sisters and daughters of Jharkhand are appealing that the land, ‘roti’ and daughters of Jharkhand are in danger. Land means foreign invaders, daughters means our daughters are not safe and ‘roti’ means no jobs. So they are appealing to save the land, bread and daughters. On behalf of BJP, I want to tell my sisters that we will protect the land, bread and daughters… BJP is committed to providing jobs and preventing infiltration,” he said.
Earlier today, a delegation of the Election Commission of India led by Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar arrived in Ranchi to review preparations for the Jharkhand elections scheduled for later this year.
There is a high probability that elections to the 81-member Jharkhand Legislative Assembly will be held in the state on or before December 2024, as the current government’s term ends in January 2025. However, the Election Commission has not yet announced the election schedule.
In the 2020 state assembly elections, JMM won 30 seats, BJP won 25 seats and Congress won 16.
