The Sun has launched a campaign calling for prison sentences for ALL sick people convicted of viewing category A images.

Eight in 10 people convicted of child abuse images are avoiding prison due to relaxed sentencing guidelines, according to the National Crime Agency.

The new research will look at tougher sentences for such horrific crimes against children.

It follows public outrage after former BBC presenter Edwards was released on a suspended sentence.

Our recent investigation reveals how a group responsible for a million photographs also avoided prison.

A senior government source has confirmed that this will be taken into account in the sentencing review.

It will fall “within the scope” of the planned review by Justice Minister Shabana Mahmood, which will start next month and be completed next year.

A new crackdown is also expected on social media companies where the content is shared.

GET A STRONG CASE

THIS revision of the sentencing guidelines, which will include penalties for downloading and sharing images of child sexual exploitation, is long overdue.

Judges must take a tough approach to offenders.

People forget that these are children being raped or abused. It’s not just a picture.

It is great that Shabana Mahmood, the Justice Minister, has responded to The Sun’s Keep Our Kids Safe campaign.

More resources should be deployed to track down perpetrators who share child pornography images.

We should also keep pedophiles on the sex offender register for life.
