US border agents find RPGs, IEDs near southern border amid ‘internal alarm’ over ‘drastic escalation’ of weapons used by cartels

An alarming battle between rival factions of the Sinaloa drug cartel has unfolded in northwestern Mexico, just a stone’s throw from the Biden-Harris administration’s open southern border. The risk of spillover is growing as U.S. Border Patrol agents recently discovered a cache of shoulder-fired rocket launchers and improvised explosive devices just across the border from Arizona.

“4 RPGs and 8 IEDs, along with a large quantity of munitions, discovered at a reconnaissance site in Mexico, just across the Arizona border, adjacent to the Ajo area of operations in the Tucson Sector,” Ali Bradley, NewsNation’s border correspondent, wrote on X Monday afternoon.

Bradley said: “Border Patrol agents are being warned of a “drastic escalation” in gun use south of the border, according to an internal alert obtained by sources.”

“The fighting within the Sinaloa Cartel, which spread across the border, with multiple cases of armed men reporting to the southern border in the same area and fleeing to the U.S. for safety,” she added.

The outbreak of violence near the border is an internal struggle within the Sinaloa Cartel, between groups known as the “Mayos” and the “Chapos.” This first began when authorities arrested Joaquín Guzmán López and Ismael “El Mayo” Zambada in July.

Since then, there has been a tsunami of violence, with President Andrés Manuel Lopez Obrador blaming the US for Zambada’s arrest.

On Friday, US Ambassador Ken Salazar rejected AMLO’s claim, saying: “What is happening in Sinaloa is not the fault of the United States.” He added that the US cannot be held responsible for “the massacres that we are seeing in different places.”

What is clear is that cartels are rapidly becoming militarized, while the Biden-Harris team has prided itself on open southern borders. Meanwhile, Venezuelan prison gangs have run amok in the U.S., and a shocking new hearing on Capitol Hill last week revealed that Biden-Harris covered up a sharp increase in encounters with suspected terrorists at the border.
