Earlier opposition was on mafia side, now creating hurdles for UP's development: CM Yogi Adityanath

VARANASI: Home Minister Yogi Adityanath reiterated that “hum bate the toh kate the (when we were a divided group, we were slaughtered)” against the ‘caste card’ of the Opposition, saying: “In the past, they (the Opposition parties) stood firmly with the mafiaand now they are playing the role of a barrier in the way of development of Uttar Pradesh.”
While addressing a public meeting after the inauguration and laying the foundation for 127 development projects worth Rs 765 crore in Gopalpur in Mirzapur On Monday CM Yogi said: “Ayodhya Dham is now flourishing. The great temple of Lord Ram Lalla has been built, but we must ask ourselves why we had to wait 500 years for this moment. Why did the invaders destroy the beautiful temple of Lord Ram Lalla and build a structure that symbolizes slavery? The answer lies in our division. ‘Hum bate the, toh kate the’. So let us not be divided and move forward together in an atmosphere of development and security.”
Mirzapur’s Majhwan seat is one of the ten constituencies where by-elections will be held soon.
Addressing the opposition, Yogi said: “Before 2017, the mafia operated as a parallel government, dominating sectors like mining, cattle trade, organised crime and land grabbing. When their convoys passed by, people’s representatives were filled with fear and the government gave in to them. No one dared to confront the mafia.”
“But today, the same mafia and criminals are begging for mercy and are ready to earn an honest living by setting up small stalls. They do not intimidate anyone anymore. Now, no one dares to threaten the safety of our daughters, exploit traders, seize farmers’ lands or demolish the houses of the poor,” the CM said.
“Those who shamelessly played the caste card used to cower before the mafia, dangerous criminals and rioters. Now that the state is making rapid progress in development, these people are again trying to act as obstacles. By doing so, they are not only endangering the present but also the future of coming generations. We must not allow the mafia to rise again,” CM Yogi said.
“It’s a new UP where Kashi Vishwanath Dham is shining beautifully and in 2025, Prayagraj will witness a grand and divine Kumbh. Devotees visiting Kashi or the Kumbh will also be attracted by Vindhyavasini Dham,” he said, adding that Mirzapur is in a privileged position and enjoys the best of both worlds.
The CM, who distributed smartphones and tablets to 1,500 youths under the Swami Vivekananda Yuva Sashaktikaran Yojana, said two crore youths in UP will be provided with smartphones and tablets. The country’s youth will contribute to the country’s growth and help India on its path to a five trillion dollar economy, he added.
The CM mentioned how the upcoming carpet exhibition in Bhadohi will generate orders and opportunities for artisans and exporters, while the International trade fair From September 25 to 29, carpets from Mirzapur and Bhadohi will also be exhibited in Greater Noida.
This platform will enable local products to be showcased to a global audience. Exporting these goods can generate significant profits and as capital flows into the region, it will boost development in Mirzapur, Bhadohi and Sonbhadra.
