Former Adamawa Senator Defends Allegation of Leaking Sex Tape on Live Radio Show

Elisha Abbo, a former federal lawmaker representing Adamawa North Senatorial District in the 9th Senate, on Tuesday defended allegations that he shared sex tapes of his former girlfriend.

Senator Abbo was a guest on the popular human rights programme ‘Brekete Family’ of the Abuja-based human rights radio station, which was streamed live on Facebook.

Speaking during Tuesday’s live show, Abbo denied Wange David’s claims, who accused him of threatening to use her nude photos to manipulate her.

Abbo gave videos and documents to the show’s host, Ahmed Isah, better known as ‘Ordinary President’, as proof of his innocence. “Wange has given different versions of the story, which clearly means she is lying,” Abbo stated during the live broadcast.

Wange David had earlier appeared on the Brekete Family show on Monday, where she accused the former lawmaker of blackmail and sexual exploitation, alleging that Abbo had tried to use their intimate videos as a bargaining chip against her.

LEADERSHIP recalls that Abbo had issued a 72-hour ultimatum demanding a public rectification and apology from Wange.

The ultimatum followed the distribution of videos and an interview in which Senator Abbo was accused of revenge porn, blackmail and distributing intimate videos.

Abbo’s lawyer, Odiyowvi Osusu, stressed that the alleged defamatory statements had caused serious damage to his client’s personal and professional reputation and misled the public.

The videos in question were reportedly shared on the platform “Naija Police: U” on September 4, 2024, while the interview was aired the following day on TrustTV News via YouTube. In the formal letter sent to Wange, Abbo’s legal team demanded that the retraction be posted on the same platforms where the original content was distributed.

The letter reads in part: “Our client has instructed us to file a claim and we hereby formally request that you publish or broadcast an unequivocal public retraction and apology on national television and in three national newspapers within 72 hours of receipt of this letter. The terms of this retraction are subject to approval by our firm and we expect you to get back to us within 24 hours of receipt of this letter.”

Failure to meet the deadline will result in legal action, the letter said, including claims for defamation, an injunction preventing further publication and a court-ordered public apology. Abbo stressed that his legal team was fully prepared to initiate proceedings if the demands were not met within the given timeframe.

However, Abbo responded to the allegations on the live show and questioned the authenticity of the evidence. He said: “How can you identify a person without seeing his face, his body and only parts of his legs, and you say it is Senator Abbo?”

Meanwhile, Wange in her earlier interview with TrustTV claimed that she dated Senator Abbo for six years before they got married and that they made the sex tapes together. She alleged that Abbo was responsible for leaking the video, claiming that “he is the only one who has access to that video.”
