Man charged after child sex abuse material found during shooting investigation

DAVIDSON COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — An investigation into a shooting in Davidson County took an unexpected turn when officers discovered child pornography on the phones of one of the shooting victims.

Tyler Waller, 30, was charged with sexual exploitation of a minor after officers found child sexual abuse material on his phone during a shooting investigation.

On Friday, September 20, officers with the Metro Nashville Police Department responded to a double shooting that left one person dead and Waller injured. Waller had been shot during the incident.

During the investigation, officers from the MNPD Homicide Unit obtained a warrant that gave them access to certain content on Waller’s phone, which is where they discovered the images.

The case was turned over to the MNPD’s Internet Crimes Against Children Unit, which found more than 50 images and video files of child sexual abuse.

Waller was released from Metro Prison on September 23.
