Dozens of new charges were filed today against one of two men accused of sexually assaulting numerous youths in the metropolitan area.

Tony Humby, 64, has been prosecuted for decades on 33 charges including sexual assault, sexual harassment and sexual exploitation.

The 39 new charges include nine counts of “a homeowner permitting illegal sexual activity and unlawfully receiving sexual services” and:

  • eight cases of luring a child using a computer or device;
  • five counts of arranging to commit a sexual offense;
  • five counts of unlawfully making sexually explicit material available to a child;
  • sexual exploitation;
  • the production of child pornography;
  • possession of child pornography;

Humby, whose trial is due to last five weeks in March next year, appeared briefly in court today on behalf of HMP to have the new charges formally read to him.

Meanwhile, the other man charged in the case, 81-year-old Bruce Escott, has chosen not to contest the charges against him and is expected to be sentenced on November 22.

In filing the new charges against Humby today, RNC Const. James Cadigan noted that people are still coming forward with additional information and allegations.

“We received information related to this case just this week,” said Cadigan, who noted that confidential contact can be made through a special email address for the case: [email protected].

Cadigan says the RNC took a “trauma-informed approach” to its investigation.

“When someone comes forward, it may not be the start of a criminal investigation. It may be about education and awareness and understanding the process. And that’s the most important thing to understand,” he says.

“We focus not only on filing criminal charges, but also on the safety and well-being of a survivor who comes to us seeking support, or who wants to file a complaint and have the matter investigated.”
