BAD BOYS: Ride or Die returns on Blu-ray and digital from directors Adil El Arbi & Bilall Fallah and Sony Pictures Home Entertainment.

Mike Lowrey (Will Smith) has finally married Christine (Melanie Liburd) and in the midst of it all, partner Marcus Burnett (Martin Lawrence) has a medical emergency. When he wakes up, Marcus has a new outlook on life, but that is interrupted by the news that Captain Howard (Joe Pantoliano) is involved in corruption with the drug cartels. Mike and Marcus are not about to let that go and two other people who come to help are Captain Rita Secada (Paola Nunez) and Adam Lockwood (Ioan Gruffudd).

Mike’s son Armando (Jacob Scipio) who was charged with Howard’s murder gets a visit and tells the duo that Howard had nothing to do with it. He also tells his father Mike what really happened and wants to help. The people responsible are still at large and it sets a message in motion for Mike and Marcus on where to go next. Mike follows the clues Howard left behind and also has to worry about his son’s safety. That doesn’t stop bad things from happening!

AMMO Kelly (Vanessa Hudgens) and Dorn (Alexander Ludwig) arrive to help, and they go head-to-head with former DEA agent James McGrath (Eric Dane). What really happens is much deeper than either Mike or Marcus could have imagined, as following the trail becomes increasingly dangerous. The thing is, the bad guys have no idea who they’re up against and how far they’ll go to clear their beloved captain’s name!

Smith as Mike is back in a different married life, but the same with partner Marcus and devotion to Captain Howard. He has not changed the portrayal of his character and follows it throughout the film. Lawrence as Marcus has a slight change in his life when his heart tells him that Skittles are not a food group. Back on the streets, he believes like Mike that a big mistake has been made and wants to find out who is responsible for the lie.

Nunez as Rita knows that Mike and Marcus will be affected by the accusations, but he continues to investigate. Nunez plays hardball with Smith and Lawrence and it works. Gruffudd as Lockwood works with Rita and knows that Mike and Marcus are protecting their friend. It’s nice to see Gruffudd back on screen, as he takes his role to the bad side.

Hudgens and Ludwig are the younger dynamic future and it works. They want to help and will be just as diligent in finding the truth as Marcus and Mike. On a side note, it’s good to see Ludwig back on screen. Scipio as Armondo is still stuck but wants to help the dynamic duo solve the mystery. Scipio has the moves and the muscle to make sure no one messes with his character.

Dane as McGrath has literally gone white in the hair and that gives him such a scary look. His character is calm, cool, collected and never in a hurry to do anything. By portraying that, he gets the edge to be a real bad boy.

Other cast members include Tasha Smith as Theresa Burnett, Tiffany Haddish as Tabitha, John Salley as Fletcher, DJ Khaled as Manny, Rhea Seehorn as Judy Howard, Dennis Green as Reggie Norman, Bianca Bethune as Megan Burnett, Quinn Hamphill as Callie Howard, Jason Davis as Agent Grice, Derek Russo as Lintz, Jenna Kanell as Nicole, and a cameo by Michael Bay.

The duo is back together to do what they do best: be Bad Boys. They seem to be enjoying being back together in their respective roles. The film is packed with action, verbal sparring, intense fight scenes, and, if you have a sound bar, it can get extremely loud! Smith and Lawrence have entered the buddy cop hall of fame with their franchise, and they haven’t completely lost their cool.

For all the fans who wanted to see Mike and Marcus back together, this is the movie they’ve been waiting for. Full of chaos and gunfights in the streets, Marcus sees the world as liberating and Mike sees his world change as a married man. While the story is easy to follow, it’s clear that the movie follows the same formula that made BAD BOYS a success in the first place.

Finally – on the run à la Bad Boys!
