Child trafficking suspects arrested in Kyrgyzstan: September 25, 2024

Tengrinews.kz – The press service of the State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan reported the arrest of suspects of child trafficking.

The agency said it had disrupted the activities of a “stable transnational criminal organization, consisting of foreigners and citizens of Kyrgyzstan, specializing in the illegal adoption and export of minor children outside Kyrgyzstan for the purpose of sale.”

“It has been established that from 2022 to the present, the said criminal organization has obtained full custody rights over children from socially vulnerable families in Kyrgyzstan through various manipulations, bribery and violations of Kyrgyz legislation. As a result of special investigative and operational actions and search activities carried out on September 20 of this year, the persons concerned were detained and placed in the pre-trial detention center of the State Committee for National Security,” the committee said.

Investigative and operational measures are currently being taken to identify other members of the criminal organisation, victims of its illegal activities and persons providing assistance in criminal activities.

Earlier, 15 criminal cases related to organ trafficking were registered in Kazakhstan, it was reported during a briefing by Shynar Kosherbaeva, deputy head of the Third Department of the Department for Combating Organized Crime of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
