Joint force has seized 216 firearms and made 92 arrests so far

DHAKA, September 25, 2024 (BSS) – Members of law enforcement agencies seized 216 firearms and arrested 92 people during special joint operations, the police headquarters reported in the afternoon.

The seized firearms include 11 revolvers, 62 pistols, 13 rifles, 28 shotguns, 6 pipe guns, 20 LG, 31 rifles, one AK47 rifle, two gas guns, one Chinese rifle, four air rifles, five SMGs and two tear gas launchers, the press release said.
The joint force, comprising members of the armed forces, police, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), Bangladesh Border Guard (BGB) and Ansar, carried out the operations to seize illegal firearms and ammunition while nabbing the drug traffickers.

AKM Kamrul Ahsan, spokesperson of the police headquarters, told BSS that they have not yet determined which of the weapons recovered were stolen from police during the political unrest in July and August.
