JOB SUMMARY

A PSS worker in a primary health care center helps people with mental health issues by providing supportive care, facilitating therapeutic activities, and collaborating with care teams to promote recovery, well-being, and access to necessary resources.

MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. identify the needs, strengths and vulnerabilities of children and their families after a disaster and conduct thorough psychosocial assessments of them.
  2. Work with the MHPSS team and other key stakeholders to create tailored support plans that ensure a person-centered and comprehensive approach to care.
  3. Assisting individuals and families with emotional support and guidance in coping with the psychological impact of trauma and disasters.
  4. Coordinating referrals and resources: To meet the diverse needs of the affected population, access to necessary resources and services must be identified and managed, both within the organization and through external partners.
  5. Create and maintain strong partnerships with the community, neighborhood groups and relevant agencies to ensure a coordinated response to the psychosocial needs of the target group.
  6. Ensure that children are safe and cared for in all aspects of the program. Be alert to identify and respond to child protection issues.
  7. increase knowledge about mental health, coping mechanisms and accessible help, plan and lead psycho-educational workshops for children, families and community members.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

Must have the following skills, education and experience:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or a related field.
  2. Demonstrable experience in providing social work services to individuals and families affected by trauma, disaster or conflict-related stress.
  3. Knowledge of child protection principles and experience in working with vulnerable groups, particularly children and families.
  4. Knowledge of MHPSS principles and interventions is an advantage.
  5. Excellent communication, interpersonal and intercultural skills.
  6. Fluent in Arabic. Basic knowledge of English is a plus.
