Do not hand over government services to the private sector

Most obituaries published in the Reading Eagle are submitted through funeral homes and cremation services, but we also accept submissions from families. Obituaries can be emailed to [email protected].

In addition to the text of the obituary, you may also attach photos to this email. Place the text of the obituary in a Word document, Google Doc, or in the body of the email. The Reading Eagle also requires a way to verify the death, so please include the phone number of the funeral home or cremation service responsible for the deceased’s care or a photo of their death certificate. We also request that you include your full name, phone number, and address in this email.

All payments by families must be made by credit card. We will send proof of the completed obituary before requiring payment. However, the obituary cannot be posted until we receive full payment.

You may submit obituaries for any future date, but they must be received no later than 3:00 p.m. the day before the publication date to be published.
