Ultra-violent British crime drama labeled ‘better than Peaky Blinders’ now available to binge-watch on Netflix

Gangs of London Fans will be happy to hear that Netflix has added the ultra-violent series to their long catalog of TV shows.

Dubbed ‘better than Peaky Blinders‘, the crime drama follows the underground world of London, as created by Gareth Evans and Matt Flannery, both known for The robbery franchise.

The series revolves around the murder of the head of the Wallace family, Finn Wallace (Colm Meaney), which sparks a brutal turf war.

Finn’s son, Sean Wallace (played by Peaky Blinders (lead actor Joe Cole) wants to avenge his father’s death in order to maintain control over the family’s criminal activities.

However, things get more complicated when power-hungry rivals become determined to eliminate him.

Elliot Finch (Sope Dirisu), an undercover agent infiltrating the Wallace family, also gets caught up in the chaos.

The rest of the cast includes Michelle Fairley as Marian Wallace, Paapa Essiedu as Alex Dumani and Lucian Msamati as Ed Dumani.

Originally based on the 2006 video game, Gangs of London first aired on Sky Atlantic in 2020.

AMC picked it up for a second season and in 2022 the series was renewed for a third season.

However, amidst all the hype, some fans have voiced their opinion, declaring it “better than Peaky Blinders‘ as someone wrote on Twitter: “Peaky Blinders isn’t even as dope as Gangs of London. Very boring and pointless story. Gangs of London was full of action, intrigue and had a better cast!”

Another added: “Lol, Gangs of London is better than any season of Peaky Blinders.

“I know you will protest even more, but I see no reason to respond.

“If you think I’m wrong, I doubt your taste in TV shows. Have a nice day.”

“Peaky Blinders is actually not bad, but Gangs of London is a better gangster series than Peaky Blinders“, claimed a third.

Other viewers call it ‘one of the best crime/drama series’ ever.

To settle the matter once and for all, it’s worth seeing what Rotten Tomatoes has to say about this.

The critics have Cillian Murphy’s Peaky Blinders a score of 93 percent, while Gangs of London has a very respectable score of 86 percent at the time of writing.

However, if you want to come to a conclusion yourself, the two seasons of Gangs of London are now available to stream on Netflix.
