Ex-MP Awal arrested for fraud in Kalabagan

Police on Wednesday afternoon arrested a former Member of Parliament (MP) from Lakshmipur-1 MA Awal of Kalabagan area of ​​the city in connection with a fraud case.

“We have arrested Awal, who is also the Managing Director (MD) of Havelly Property Ltd, from Havelly Group office at Sultana Tower, Kalabagan in connection with a fraud case at 5pm today,” said Deputy Commissioner of the Media Department and public relations. of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Md Talebur Rahman to BSS.

A team from Kalabagan Police Station arrested Awal along with Nabakumar, an accountant from the property, following a court order issued today in connection with the fraud case.

Awal, Nabakumar and several others were accused in the case filed at Kalabagan police station.

Awal, former general secretary of Tarikat Federation of Bangladesh, was elected as a lawmaker from Laxmipur-1 constituency on January 5, 2014.
