Job description

HII Mission Technologies is looking for an Information System Security Manager (ISSM) located near Ft. Meade, MD. HII Mission Technologies is a technology solutions company that provides technical expertise and operational support to the U.S. Department of Defense, civilian government agencies and commercial customers.

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • As an Information Systems Security Manager (ISSM), the individual works closely with various government agencies and offices to generate and maintain security documentation, including system security plans, risk assessment reports, privileged/general user manuals, and a plan of action and milestones (POA&M) for classified information systems.
  • Accepts responsibility for the certification and accreditation of classified information systems networks and ensures that audit requirements are fully in accordance with appropriate guidelines and requirements.
  • Manages changes to the system and assesses the security impact of those changes.
  • Ensures all system security procedures are followed, including maintaining and reviewing software security patches and audit files in accordance with various customer requirements.
  • Maintain responsibility for information system media control, anti-virus definition updates, hardware and software control for secure operating environments, information security briefings, education and training.
  • Conducting periodic self-inspections of the overall information systems program and ensuring compliance with various government regulations.
  • Conducts and coordinates investigations of security violations related to the Information Systems Program; ensures corrective actions are implemented appropriately.

Minimum qualifications

  • 5 years of relevant experience with Bachelors in a related field; 3 years of relevant experience with Masters in a related field; 0 years of experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years of relevant experience.
  • An ideal candidate is a fast-learning, self-motivated individual with a passion to work on and make a positive impact on our country’s defense against digital threats.
  • Knowledge about all aspects of security
  • Proven experience in risk assessment and security incident management
  • Operational knowledge of Windows/Linux operating systems
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience managing security responsibilities
  • Experience with RMF, NIST 800-53, CNSSI 1253 and NISPOM is required
  • Experience with STIGS, SCAP, SCC, vulnerability scanning and logging tools is a plus
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work both in a team and independently
  • Must be organized and detailed
  • Certification – Security+ certification with a preference for CISSP
  • Back up and assist other members of the security staff as necessary
  • Endorsement – Must possess and maintain a TS/SCI with poly

  • Knowledge of Access Commander or SIMS
  • Knowledge of networks and access control
  • SAP experience
  • COMSEC experience
