York Region teacher accused of sexually assaulting teenage student

A York Catholic District School Board teacher has been accused of sexually assaulting a teenage student.

York Regional Police (YRP) are not naming the school to protect the identity of the victim.

The investigation began on June 5, 2024, when York Regional Police said the teenage student reported being sexually assaulted by a teacher.

“The suspect has been employed as a high school teacher for 22 years and with the York Catholic District School Board for five years,” according to a YRP news release.

Tony Paniccia, 47, of Toronto, faces three charges of sexual assault, three charges of sexual exploitation and one charge of luring a child.
