The Buffalo Bills offensive line remained good through three games

Things are looking up for the Buffalo Bills to start the 2024 regular season. With a dominant win against the Jacksonville Jaguars Monday night footballBuffalo improved their record to 3-0.

Now the majority of people will point to quarterback Josh Allen as the reason for the team’s early success. Allen just won his 13th AFC Offensive Player of the Week award after throwing for four touchdowns, all in the first half. But as Allen said at his press conference on Wednesday, the offensive line as a unit is who should have won the award.

Allen has every reason to feel that way, as the unit has thoroughly dominated early play this season. They have allowed just two sacks, which is the fewest a Bills team has allowed through the first three weeks since 2012. Bills Mafia likes to see Allen play with a clean uniform in the fourth quarter. The offense has six rushing touchdowns, which is tied for the top in the league. That doesn’t happen without dominant offensive line play.

Left tackle Dion Dawkins and right tackle Spencer Brown in particular had a fantastic start. According to NFL Next Gen Stats, Brown has allowed no pressures in 85 passing snaps, which is the best in the league. Meanwhile, Dawkins has allowed just three pressures in 84 passing snaps.

The efforts of Brown and Dawkins will undoubtedly make life a lot easier for Allen in the pocket. He has been able to make progress with ease while facing minimal pressure. The few times Allen faced pressure from the middle, he was able to escape the pocket with ease thanks to the work of Brown and Dawkins. It’s no surprise that both were given contract extensions before the season, and their play thus far has proven it was a good investment decision by general manager Brandon Beane.
