Catskill man arrested for alleged internet crimes against children

A Catskill man was arrested Tuesday for alleged possession of child pornography following a multi-agency effort.

According to a press release, New York State Police from Latham, with the assistance of the Troop G Computer Crimes Unit, the Internet Crimes Against Children task force (ICAC) and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), arrested 57-year-old Giovanni Fascella brought. , taken into custody. Fascella was charged with promoting and possessing images related to child sexual exploitation.

Authorities said his arrest followed an investigation and execution of a search warrant at a former residence in Coeymans on May 26, 2022. The investigation reportedly stemmed from information from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC).

Fascellea was arrested in Catskill, authorities said, and charged with promoting a sexual performance by a child and possessing a sexual performance by a child. Authorities said he was arraigned in Coeymans Town Court and then remanded to the Albany County Correctional Facility without bail.
