Delhi Police arrests long-wanted Mewat gang member after 11 years

Delhi Police have successfully arrested Sonu, a gang member involved in an attack on a police patrol in Kotla Mubarakpur 11 years ago. Officials confirmed the arrest Sunday.

Sonu, 36 years old and a resident of Nuh in Haryana, was linked to notorious criminal activities led by Mewat-based gangs in 2012 and 2013, creating chaos in south and south-east Delhi. Several police units were involved in monitoring and tracking these gangs.

According to a senior police officer, the gang had attacked a police vehicle on April 29, 2013, injuring the officers who subsequently required treatment at the AIIMS Trauma Center. Acting on new intelligence, police formed a team and arrested Sonu from Bisru Road in Punhana on Saturday.
