The Democratic Party gathered today in the National Council focusing on the October 6 protest and the action that this political issue is expected to launch in Parliament following the prison sentence of the deputy, Ervin Salianji.

In his speech, DP leader Sali Berisha said that Ervin Salianji, as a politician who has never been in power, was imprisoned only because he dared to do his duty.

“Today the DP National Council is meeting in an emergency meeting, which is related to the fate of democracy, the fate of pluralism and the sovereignty of the Albanian nation. For two days, Albania is no longer what it was. After 34 years, the black shadow of the narco-dictatorship, the dictatorship that replaced the rule of law with the code of the mafia, has returned to Albania. Dictatorship based on the alliance of power with crime, drugs and theft of Albanian citizens. Two days ago, a courageous opposition MP, Ervin Salianji, a young politician who started his political career in the opposition, came. A politician who has never been in power, who has never owned public or government funds, was sentenced to prison and deprived of his liberty. He was imprisoned for daring to do his duty.

Because he dared to publicly denounce the most dangerous brotherhood of the drug mafia of those years, in particular to denounce the Xhafaj brotherhood, his Geron, brother of Fatmir Xhafa, for drug trafficking,” said Berisha .
