Summerville man arrested on CSAM charges | Community News

South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson announced the arrest of Christopher Michael McCoy, 45, of Summerville, on thirteen charges related to the sexual exploitation of a minor. Investigators from the Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force made the arrest. Investigators from the State Attorney’s Office, who are also members of the state ICAC Task Force, assisted in this investigation.

Investigators say McCoy distributed and possessed files containing child sexual abuse material.

McCoy was arrested on September 16. He is charged with two counts of second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor, a felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison for each charge, and 11 counts of third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor. , a crime punishable by up to 10 years in prison per charge.

The Public Prosecution Service will prosecute the case.

Wilson emphasized that all defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
