Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Kerala President K. Surendran on Monday (September 30, 2024) alleged that Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan’s office has turned into “a den of looters and mafia groups.”

Left Independent MLA PV Anvar’s revelations against the Chief Minister’s political secretary and senior police officials had long justified the allegations of corruption and nepotism leveled by the BJP against the Chief Minister’s office, said Mr. Surendran of the state leadership. meeting of the party held in Kochi.

Mr Surendran claimed that the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI(M)), which Mr Anvar now links to gold smuggling, had previously encouraged him to stay in power. “The Left government has not initiated any serious probe into the Nilambur MLA’s allegations even as the chief minister continued to dodge questions by calling it a conspiracy,” he said.

He also criticized CPI(M) state secretary MV Govindan for his “failure” to give a concrete response to Mr Anvar’s allegations that the chief minister’s political secretary and senior police officials were aiding the interests of gold smugglers in Kerala. “The government has also failed to launch a concrete investigation into allegations of tapping ministers’ telephone conversations,” he said.

Mr Surendran alleged that the CPI(M)’s department meetings were disrupted due to Mr Anvar’s allegations. “The CPI(M) is facing its worst ever political crisis in Kerala as it will soon find itself in a crisis similar to the fate it met in West Bengal and Tripura,” he said.

Prakash Javadekar, former Union minister and BJP’s Kerala Prabhari, said the strength of the CPI(M) in the Kerala Assembly will be reduced to zero very soon. “They will face a situation similar to that in West Bengal where the party’s strength has gone down to zero after 35 years in power,” he said.

“It will then be a fight between the Congress and the BJP in Kerala. And if it is a fight between Congress and BJP, we know how to win,” he added.
