KUALA LUMPUR: The remand of the CEO of Global Ikhwan Services and Business Holdings (GISB) and 24 others will be extended by another five days.

Inspector General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain said they will be remanded in custody from today (Sept 30) following a police report filed by the company’s staff over allegations of forced labour.

“They will be remanded in custody until October 4 to assist with investigations under Article 12 of the Anti-Trafficking in Persons and Migrant Smuggling Act (ATIPSOM).

“Their pre-trial detention follows a report from a victim in Cheras, who was allegedly exploited by the suspect.

“This individual claimed to have worked for the company without being paid,” he said when contacted today.

On September 25, it was reported that police had received ten reports of allegations of forced labor involving GISB.

The victims, aged between 14 and early 20s, came forward after a public appeal from authorities.

The incidents are said to have taken place between 2013 and 2024 in various locations including Miri, Rawang and Alor Star.

GISB has come under close scrutiny following September 11 police raids on 20 nursing homes reportedly operated by the organization. This has led to the rescue of 402 people, the majority of whom are children.

Subsequent screenings revealed that many of the children were victims of physical and emotional abuse, with thirteen reported victims of sexual assault, including sodomy.

GISB has denied all allegations of child exploitation and abuse.

A total of 34 GISB members have since been re-arrested under the Special Measures for Security Offenses Act (Sosma), after their pre-trial detention expired on September 25.
