Recent revelations confirm that Inter coach Simone Inzaghi has held talks with Marco Ferdico, a Nerazzurri ultra who was arrested on Monday morning as part of a large-scale operation, in relation to securing additional tickets for the 2023 Coppa Italia final.

Reports on Monday morning confirmed that 19 people, including several ultras from Inter and Milan, had been arrested. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, 16 have been jailed, while three have been placed under house arrest.

The investigation began in early September following the murder of Antonio Bellocco, a leading member of Inter’s Curva Nord group, which resulted in the arrest of fellow Nerazzurri ultra Andrea Beretta.

Many of those arrested on Monday reportedly have links to mafia families from the Calabria region and have committed serious crimes, including extorting tickets and drinks, as well as other cases of organized crime and mafia-related methods in and around San Siro.

What Inzaghi said against Inter ultra’s arrest

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, telephone taps have revealed that Inter coach Simone Inzaghi had a conversation with Marco Ferdico, who asked the tactician to obtain extra tickets for the Coppa Italia final against Fiorentina in May 2023.

For that final, only 1,000 tickets were made available for the Curva Nord route of the Inter-support. Ferdico had requested that an additional 200 be made available.

During a telephone conversation, Ferdico reportedly threatened a fan strike if the ticket issue was not resolved.

In response, Inzaghi said he would speak to club manager Riccardo Ferri, as well as Beppe Marotta, then CEO and now club president, and vice-president Javier Zanetti.

The phone tap showed Inzaghi saying he would speak to Nerazzurri executives and report what they said.

Ferdico then insisted that Marotta had the final say and requested that Inzaghi speak to him directly, personally to resolve the ticket issue.
